Spiders, get excited! We’ve got some news:
As a few of you guessed on our teaser post on Social Media last week, we are indeed re-building the Upper Mezz bouldering area! We’re so excited for this big project, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
As with any big project, there will be some disruption to the centre over the month of July, but to minimise this, we’ve included a brief timeline of the works below:
W/C 3rd July
Our maintenance team will begin stripping out the Upper Mezz area. During this time, the entire Upper Mezz, including the training area and stretching room, will be off-limits. It’s likely that the scissor lift will be operating throughout this week, helping the team bring down all of the old walls. As a result, some lead climbing lines may be off limits for a brief period of time.
W/C 10th July
This is where the exciting stuff happens! The build of the new walls will begin – there’ll be tons of exciting stuff happening in the weeks this takes up, and we’ll keep you updated as the build progresses via our Social Media channels.
27th & 28th July
The brand new walls will be set for the very first time with some brand new holds by IFSC route setter Yann Genoux, Route Setting Manager Evie Cotrulia, Assistant Head Setter Alex Patterson and Matt VC.
We’re so excited for this project, and we do hope that despite the disruption, you’ll bear with us as we work hard to bring you a new and improved Upper Mezz!
