How did you start climbing?
I started climbing at mum’s birthday party 2 years ago.
How long have you been climbing for?
2 years and I’ve been to both of red spider’s birthday parties.
Why do you like climbing?
Because it challenges me and I have to think about doing things in a different way.
Tell us something interesting about yourself:
I came 64th out of 150 girls for my county in the cross-country champion ships .
What is the best thing about being on the squad?
I love being challenged and the coaches know how to do that.
What would you like to achieve from climbing (eg: GB Squad, Olympics, get stronger generally)?
I would just like to improve and get better at climbing.

Favourite type of climbing
Sport Climbing all the way. One of my most memorable experiences is topping my first 7b, Clashing Socks, at Brean Down.

Most memorable climbing experience
The list is growing all the time so it’s hard to nail down one. Ones that spring to mind are my first 7b outdoors, doing my first trad lead in ‘The Peak’ (took my first fall on the same route too!), multipitch climbing at the Dewerstone, deep water soloing at Lulworth… too many!
Why do you climb
Well, football is difficult with one leg and I’m no concert pianist! Joking aside, I love it. The adventures, experiences with friends, pushing myself at all levels and training. I love to train!

Why/When did you start climbing:
When I was 16 I got my first job cleaning toilets in my local wall…. onwards and upwards from there!
Qualifications & Experience:
FUNdamentals 1 & 2, Foundation & Development Coach trained and 12 years of climbing experience
Most memorable climbing experience?
Too many to say however climbing my first V12 (after only 4.5 years of climbing) – Body Count in Magic Wood would probably be up there!
Favourite type of climbing:
Used to be bouldering however it’s got to be Deep Water Soloing now!

Playing guitar, bodyboarding, travelling, learning about history & current affairs, debating

For the adventure, to keep fit and healthy
Why/ When did you start climbing?
I started climbing because there weren’t any good waves for me to surf where I live in the UK. I think I started climbing near the end of 2006.

Winning the Junior British Bouldering championships (age 14) and being selected to compete for the GB team as a junior. In 2018 I was selected for the senior GB team where I have travelled to Russia, China, and Japan for my first time on the world cup circuit

My passion is for bouldering, but I am open to outdoors and to start leading again

The people who have influenced me have been Leah and Alex Megos
Why do you climb
I climb for the feeling of success, not just in competitions but also in my training. The feeling of topping a hard boulder or pushing yourself to the max is amazing.
Why/When did you start climbing
I began climbing at the age of 12 at a small wall in a junior club. Since my first session I have had a growing passion for the sport, and began to compete nationally at the age of 13.

Moved on from parkour then discovered how amazing red spider is.

The challenge, I enjoy doing things that I thought were impossible

I don’t have much of a sense of fear and have spent a lot of time in the minor injuries unit

Climbing with other people at my level and learning from each other

How did you start climbing?
I was climbing trees in the park, my Dad thought I was good at it so he took me to indoor climbing places.
How long have you been climbing for?
4 years, and I’ve loved every moment climbing in that time.
Why do you like climbing?
I like climbing because it’s really fun, everyone is really nice and supportive, and it’s a great feeling when you get to the top of a really hard route.
Tell us something interesting about yourself:
I really love cats and I have taught my own cat, Linus, to sit for treats!
What is the best thing about being on the squad?
I get to improve my strength and skill, I get to climb lots, and everyone is really friendly and kind.
What would you like to achieve from climbing (eg: GB Squad, Olympics, get stronger generally)?
I would like to get into the GB squad, go to the Olympics and get into the World Cup.
How did you start climbing?
I started climbing at rock up every week. Then my aunt told me about Red Spider. First, I had a few trips with my aunt and then I did NIBAS for 1-2 years. Now I’m in the climbing squad and the rest is history.
How long have you been climbing for?
2-3 years although my Mum says I used to climb lampposts and everything I could when I was little too.
Why do you like climbing?
It’s a way to get all the energy out of me and it’s quite relaxing

I am a chatterbox, I like talking to everyone in the centre. I like asking questions.

The members of the squad and the competitions
How did you start climbing?
I started climbing trees as soon as I could and my interest just grew from there, my uncle took me down to Calshot once or twice and then red spider opened! I did a couple of recreational sessions and the rest is history.

Why do you like climbing?
I enjoy the challenge of the constant need to improve, as well as the thrill and adrenalin!

I have shiny, metallic, purple Dr Martens!
What is the best thing about being on the squad?
It is not only a chance to socialise, but also a way for me to improve and it is a gateway to competitions.

The socialising and getting stronger, climbing is always different – different styles and different routes.

We had a squad trip to Font – it was great climbing with everyone encouraging each other, and we had a massive BBQ afterwards

I started when I was 9. I liked climbing trees and felt that there should be a sport for climbing – and there was!

I like being up high and looking down on people as everyone is small! I love the challenge of the roof climb.

Why/when did you start climbing?
I always used to climb on trees and my mum thought that I should learn with a professional otherwise I would fall and hurt myself. It was a good idea because I tried it and it was really fun

It is more free than other sports; running is running, but there are so many things to do in climbing
