Fun Clubs

Our fun clubs are for kids aged 5+ and focus on simply having a good fun climbing session week after week whilst also learning some key skills that will allow them to begin the journey to becoming experienced climbers. In order to do this, our instructors really focusing on building confidence in their younger climbers, allowing them to excel in the future.

NICAS

Alternatively, NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) courses begin at age 7, and participants will follow a nationally recognised syllabus working towards each of the 5 levels of the schemeUpon completion of each level, participants will receive a certificate and begin working towards the next level.

For all of our kids clubs, all essential safety equipment is provided with extra non-essential bits and bobs that you can hire (such as climbing shoes or chalk bags).

Almost everyone new to NICAS will start at Level 1 and work their way up through the levels until they complete the scheme at Level 5. Climbers will begin with the very basics, learning how to put on their own harnesses and helmets and setting up their ropes so they can be ready to climb. The instructor will teach them all of the skills set out in a handy checklist in their logbooks, and tick those off once they have been completedso you can easily follow along with your child’s progress.

Participants will be grouped together with others also at a similar climbing level, and groups will be no larger than 6 kids per instructor. We strive to ensure that you’ll have the same instructor for the entire term, which means the group really get to know each other and means that it’s a great way for kids to make new friends.

All essential kit is provided each week, but as your child moves up the ranks, you’ll need to look into buying them some climbing shoes (or you can hire them each week from reception). If you do have any questions or concerns, please do come in to have a chat, or email us at climb@whitespiderclimbing.com

If you’d like to be the first to hear when booking opens for next term, join our priority mailing list!

You’ll be notified of booking opening and given the chance to make a booking before this is available to the general public.

Our NICAS and Termly Fun clubs session run every day of the week:

  • After school and early evening on weekdays
  • Early morning and late afternoon at weekends
Help us stay safe:
  • No Spectators due to restricted capacities. We ask that parents of all children aged 7yrs and up (NICAS) to drop off and go where possible. One of our main control measures against COVID-19 is the retaining the capacity of our climbing wall.
  • Please arrive ready to climb. To minimise contact time spent kitting up and additional numbers in the building, we need all attendees to arrive as ready to climb as possible.  Of course this has the added bonus of more time spent climbing!
On the Sessions
  • All our coaches will be wearing PPE, in addition to having new working practices to minimise contact surfaces
  • All sessions will now include compulsory hand sanitising/washing at the start and middle of the session
  • Max group sizes of 1:6
Other F.A.Q’s/Help
  • We recommend all candidates have their own kit, although all courses will still include safety equipment
  • Facemasks: All attendees 11yrs+ are now required to wear a face covering when not climbing on a session

Is it safe to return?

Our instructors are kept fully up to date on the latest UK Government advice and wear PPE to deliver sessions.

For full details on our precautions and Covid-secure measures please visit our ‘Back to Climbing’ page.

If you do not manage to book your desired session, get in touch with us and we’ll do our best to help you! We can always add you to our mailing list for next term, so e-mail us at climb@whitespiderclimbing.com
