Fun Clubs

Our Creepy Crawlies fun clubs (for those aged 4-6yrs) are great for getting those littles started in the climbing world. Our instructors focus on building confidence on the wall, whilst teaching those essential climbing skills to get them ready for the next stage in their climbing journey. Creepy Crawlies clubs have a great mix of structured learning and fun, ensuring that the participants have a great climbing session week after week.

Alternatively, NIBAS (National Indoor Bouldering Award Scheme) courses are for those aged 7-17, and participants will follow a nationally recognised syllabus working towards each of the 5 levels of the scheme. Upon completion of each level, participants will receive a certificate and begin working towards the next level of the scheme.

For all of our kids clubs, all essential safety equipment is provided, and extra bits and bobs can be hired (such as climbing shoes or chalk bags).

Almost everyone new to NIBAS (National Indoor Bouldering Award Scheme) will start at Level 1 and work their way up through the levels until they complete the scheme. Boulderers will learn the basics of staying safe on and off the wall, as well as improving their climbing confidence and skill. Each participant will have a handy logbook, which their instructor will use to keep track of their individual progress, signing off on skills they have completed each week as they work towards each level of the scheme. This is also a great way for you to see how your child is progressing!

Participants will be grouped together with others also at a similar climbing level, and we keep group sizes small. We strive to ensure that you’ll have the same instructor for the entire term, which means the group really get to know each other and means that it’s a great way for kids to make new friends.

The great thing about bouldering is that you don’t need much technical kit to get started. As the kids work up through the levels, you’ll probably want to get them their own pair of climbing shoes, but until then, you can hire a pair each week from reception for £3.

Help us stay safe:
  • No Spectators due to restricted capacities. We ask that parents of all children aged 7yrs and up (NIBAS) to drop off and go where possible. One of our main control measures against COVID-19 is the retaining the capacity of our climbing wall.
  • Please arrive ready to climb. To minimise contact time spent kitting up and additional numbers in the building, we need all attendees to arrive as ready to climb as possible.  Of course this has the added bonus of more time spent climbing!
 On the Sessions
  • All our coaches will be wearing PPE, in addition to having new working practices to minimise contact surfaces
  • All sessions will now include compulsory hand sanitising/washing at the start and middle of the session
  • Max group sizes of 1:6
Other F.A.Q’s/Help
  • We recommend that all candidates have their own climbing shoes. Rental shoes are still available from reception and thoroughly cleaned between uses for those without.
  • Facemasks: All attendees 11yrs+ are now required to wear a face covering when not climbing on a session

Please visit our guidance on visiting Red Spider for the latest details.

    • In addition to managing capacity, we have introduced a number of walk-ways to help the flow of individuals around the climbing wall along with separate entrance and exits.
    • We are maintaining a rigorous cleaning schedule of all high contact surfaces; with a staff member on permanent rotation going around and cleaning. We have also added additional hand washing and sanitising stations.
    • Due to the nature of the climbing wall, we are unable to wash each hold after its use, so we ask that you wash your hands before and after your climb
    • Our instructors are kept fully up to date on the latest UK Government advice and wear PPE to deliver sessions

Please visit our guidance on visiting Red Spider for the latest details.
