Fun Clubs

Our Creepy Crawlies fun clubs (for those aged 4-6yrs) are great for getting kids started in the climbing world. Our instructors focus on building confidence on the wall, whilst teaching those essential climbing skills to get them ready for the next stage in their climbing journey. Creepy Crawlies clubs have a great mix of structured learning and fun, ensuring that the participants have a great climbing session week after week

NICAS

Alternatively, NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) courses are for those aged 7-17, and participants will follow a nationally recognised syllabus working towards each of the 5 levels of the scheme. Upon completion of each level, participants will receive a certificate of achievement! Candidates will learn the very basics of climbing and climbing equipment and progress through the scheme, eventually being signed off as independent and competent climbers!

For all of our kids clubs, all essential safety equipment is provided, and extra bits and bobs can be hired (such as climbing shoes or chalk bags).

Almost everyone new to NICAS will start at Level 1 and work their way up through the levels until they complete the scheme at Level 5. Climbers will begin with the very basics, learning how to put on their own harnesses and helmets and setting up their ropes so they can be ready to climb. The instructor will teach them all of the skills set out in a handy checklist in their logbooks, and tick those off once they have been completedso you can easily follow along with your child’s progress.

Participants will be grouped together with others also at a similar climbing level. We strive to ensure that you’ll have the same instructor for the entire term, which means the group really get to know each other and means that it’s a great way for kids to make new friends.

All essential kit is provided each week, but as your child moves up the ranks, you’ll need to look into buying them some climbing shoes (or you can hire them each week from reception). If you do have any questions or concerns, please do come in to have a chat, or email us at climb@greenspiderclimbing.com
