All the information you need to make a safe and stress free return to our climbing wall.

Your Visit

We want to make everyone’s return to climbing as safe as possible. We ask all our visitors to:

  • Wash or Sanitise their hands frequently
  • Wear a face covering in the non-climbing areas of the wall
  • Where possible, arrive for your session ready to climb
  • Adhere to social distancing measures, keeping at least 2 metres apart from other climbers and avoiding busy areas
  • We ask that people keep their sessions to a maximum of 3 hours where possible
  • No Spectators, we love to watch climbing too, but need to keep as much capacity for climbing as possible
  • Make sure to check-out when leaving

Common F.A.Q's

How do you use our climbing walls?

I’m a regular climber at your centre who doesn’t require supervision or an instructor; You will not need to pre-book for casual climbing at any of our centres.

I have a U.A.T* and used to climb with my friends who also have U.A.T’s; You will not need to pre-book to come climbing at any of our centres.

I climb under the supervision of an Adult friend who is a competent climber; You will not need to pre-book for casual climbing. Just sign in with your supervisor as normal.

I climb under the supervision of an Instructor; We hope to be running coach led sessions after our first two weeks of opening. As before, coach led sessions will need to be pre-booked.

Hands. Face. Space. These are the three most effective ways to control the spread of Covid-19.

This is why we are asking everyone visiting Red Spider to wear a face mask on arrival and at any time within non-climbing areas.

You will not need to wear a mask when;
  • eating/drinking
  • climbing, belaying or moving between lines/problems (on the black climbing floor/boulder matting)
  • using the training area

All of our facilities have a maximum capacity based on 3 metre social distancing (9sq metres per climber), giving plenty of room for everyone.

Climbing Facilities – Fully Open

  • All of our climbing facilities will be available, including all training area equipment
  • Please wipe down all training area equipment after each use

Cafe – Open, with a limited range

  • We will be offering our full range of Hot and Cold Drinks
  • Sit-In will be available with reduced seating
  • Only snacks and pre-packaged food will be available to purchase

Changing Rooms, Lockers and Showers – Partially Open

  • Please arrive ready for your session to limit use of changing areas
  • Showers will not be available, with changing room space being prioritised for hand washing and toilet use
  • We do still have our limited number of coin operated lockers for any valuables

In addition to managing capacity, we have introduced a number of walk-ways to help the flow of individuals around the climbing wall along with separate entrance and exits.

As we did in the lead up to closing, we will be maintaining a rigorous cleaning schedule of all high contact surfaces; with a staff member on permanent rotation going around and cleaning. We have also added additional hand washing and sanitisation stations.

Due to the nature of the climbing wall, we are unable to wash each hold after its use, so we ask that you wash your hands before and after your climb.

My booking was supposed to take place when you we’re closed; All bookings are secure. We promise to deliver your session as soon as we are able to.

My son/daughter was enrolled on a termly club, what will happen with the remaining weeks? All remaining sessions from the Spring/Summer term will be carried over to the September term, with your time and space guaranteed.

Can I request a refund? Allowing us to hold your booking will not affect your right to request a refund at a later date should you still not be happy. However if you’d still like a refund then please send us an email to

All pay monthly memberships were automatically frozen upon our closure at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown. As a result all memberships will be restarted on the 25th of July, this means normal billing will resume and all your membership benefits will be restored.
