Book a Term of Climbing Clubs!

Our popular term-time courses for children aged 5+ run every weekday and at the weekends. Suitable for beginners and more experienced youngsters alike, these classes will teach them all the skills to climb safely under the supervision of our instructors.

Creepy Crawlies

This session is for kids aged 5-8yrs old and focuses on simply having a fun climbing session week after week whilst also learning some key skills that will allow them to begin their climbing journey. In order to do this, our instructors really focus on building confidence in their younger climbers, allowing them to excel in the future.

*NEW!*NICAS

Alternatively, NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes) courses begin at age 7, and participants will follow a nationally recognised syllabus working towards each of the 5 levels of the scheme. Upon completion of each level, participants will receive a certificate and begin working towards the next level.  NOTE: Currently we can only run levels 1 and 2, but we hope to expand our offering in time for the September term.

Black Widows

This session is for experienced young climbers (aged 14+). It’s a fun focused session, where participants can practise their skills under the guidance of one of our instructors.

For all of our termly clubs, all essential safety equipment is provided. You can hire extra non-essential bits and bobs (such as climbing shoes or chalk bags).

FAQ's

Almost everyone new to NICAS will start at Level 1 and work their way up through the levels until they complete the scheme at Level 5. Climbers will begin with the very basics, and the instructor will teach them all of the skills set out in a handy checklist in their logbooks, and tick those off once they have been completed, so you can easily follow along with your child’s progress.

Participants will be grouped together with others also at a similar climbing level. We strive to ensure that you’ll have the same instructor for the entire term, which means the group really get to know each other and means that it’s a great way for kids to make new friends.

All essential kit is provided each week, but as your child moves up the ranks, you’ll need to look into buying them some climbing shoes (or you can hire them each week from reception).
