STEP 1 – Register
To climb at Blue Spider, you first need to fill out a registration form.
As an experienced adult climber, you’ll need to fill out the Unsupervised Registration for yourself.
On your first visit to the Centre, we will give you a very quick safety test based on your answers to the questions in the registration form. This usually takes about 2 or 3 minutes. Once you’ve passed the test, we will assign you a Proficiency which dictates which parts of the Centre you can use.
STEP 2 – Supervision Rules
Once you have passed the necessary safety tests and given a proficiency, you can supervise novice climbers.
Supervision Rules:
- You may only supervise a maximum of 2 novice climbers per day.
- You are fully responsible for, and must remain with, the novice climbers you are supervising at all times.
- You must inform the novice(s) of all relevant risks and help them manage these risks
- You may only supervise within your own level of competence (E.g. – if you are a Boulder Only user, you may not supervise roped climbing)
- If using the roped walls, you must back up the dead rope when the novice is belaying.
- When you arrive at the Centre, we will check you in and ask you, as the supervisor, to sign in any novices you are looking after. They will need to do a Novice Registration Form before climbing here.
